Jerry Nadeau, driver of the #25 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, has high hopes for this weekend's Brickyard 400 after gathering a wealth of vital information during testing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
"Indianapolis is one of those tracks that is really fast, but you've got to be very smooth and have a perfect line during each lap to have really fast laps," explained Nadeau. "A good car means a lot there, and I know we have one of our best UAW-Delphi Monte Carlos to take with us. A good motor is going to mean a lot at Indy too, and I think the guys at Hendrick Motorsports are going to give us a strong engine so we'll have a chance to win there.
"We tested there and ran some pretty good laps, we learned some valuable information and plan to turn that information into some results," added Nadeau. "We are taking the car that we had at Chicagoland Speedway and it was great there, so we feel like this should be a fun race."
Meanwhile Tim Whelan, who has served as the jack man for Nadeau since 1999, pulled a muscle in his back and had to miss last Sunday's Pennsylvania 500. Whelan is nursing his injury and hopes to be back for the Brickyard 400. If not, Jeff Cook will relieve Whelan again as he did for the Pennsylvania 500. Cook is a back up jack man for Hendrick Motorsports and will likely serve as jack man for Jimmie Johnson's team next year.
Whelan also has shop duties of building the gears and transmissions for the No. 25 UAW-Delphi team.
