Whoa Mikey: Skinner wins Golf Cart GP.
Richard Childress Racing's Mike Skinner emerged victorious in a frantic seven way dice to take the honours in the inaugural Golf Cart Grand Prix at the Richmond International Raceway beating off the six other drivers who have been paired with a 'Loony Tunes' character this weekend.

The entire Richmond International Raceway weekend has a festival atmosphere surrounding it with the highlight being Saturday night's Chevrolet Monte Carlo 400, part of the Winston No Bull 5. However that was just an afterthought on Friday afternoon as the seven drivers lucky enough to be paired with one of the world famous 'Loony Tunes' character.
Mastering the controls of his Golf Cart like a true professional, Skinner, adorned with a Yosemite Sam paint scheme, took the 'hole' shot into the first turn and was able to hold off the chasing pack to record a legendary victory.
There was no news on who was the first to reach the 19th hole.
Mike Skinner, paired with Yosemite Sam (winner): "Yosemite did it for me. He's the man. But we'll trade it (the win) right now for one Saturday night. But we still want the cartoons (first prize was a set of Looney Tune videos). We're probably going to be doing some knee surgery sometime the end of the year, so I'll have time to watch those. I think I have a Chevy golf cart with a bowtie up front, a big spoiler on the back of it (Yosemite Sam's hat) and some downforce."
Jeff Green, paired with Daffy Duck: "That (Daffy Duck) bill was way too much drag. Golf Carts are great, but they're kind of like the IROC Series. Mike (Skinner) got the good draw. It's fun. We're looking forward to both races and we're having fun."
Kevin Harvick, paired with Tasmanian Devil: "I think the Taz kind of fits me a little bit. But I think the golf cart race was rigged."
Jeff Gordon, paired with Bugs Bunny: "I like Bugs. He was always my favourite - always chasing the rabbit. I hope that tomorrow night they're all chasing the rabbit. One thing's for sure. That car we've got is the most awesome car we've ever had in one of these specialty cars as far as the way it looks. We've got that ChromaLusion paint on there and we've got Bugs and Elmer Fudd. The whole landscape of it looks great. I agree, my golf cart drove like a Chevrolet too - it had all that rear downforce, but I needed some more nose. We needed to kick that air dam out a little bit more on mine.
"My Dupont Chevrolet is green, blue, gold, purple - all wrapped up into one. It's really cool. The ChromaLusion paint is on the Monte Carlo pace car too. It's really spectacular. I think it'll be really awesome under the lights Saturday night - especially if we can keep it up front and they literally are chasing the rabbit."
Terry Labonte, paired with Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote: "We've had some pretty good runs here at Richmond in the past. It's a pretty good racetrack for us so we're looking forward to it. I think the Coyote fits me. Being from Texas, we've got a lot of coyotes out there. And I've been known to be 'Wile E'."
Kenny Wallace, paired with Sylvester and Tweety: "We're going to have a good time tomorrow night if I can keep these two from fighting. We've got a good race car and like I said, it's all about Steve Park. We're going to do the best we can."
Bobby Hamilton, paired with Marvin The Martian: "I was trying to get Marvin to disintegrate. He didn't bring the utensils with him because NASCAR didn't think it would be safe to have that kind of power here. So they robbed him of his powers. But they said we could use them in the race."
