Local interest in Ian Watson Spring Cup National Road Races
The opening National Road Race meeting of the 2010 season, the Ian Watson Spring Cup has attracted an impressive line up of local competitors from the area.
Scarborough's own Tony Flinton will have a brace of two-stroke machines at his disposal. Goole's Phil Harvey will also be out on the his pair of Hondas, whilst Whitby restaurant owner Kristian Didelot will give his 600 Honda an outing, as will Bridlington regular Chris Graily.
Others in the fiercely contested 600cc Supersport class include, Richard Gibson (South Cave), past club champion Ben Handley (Elvington), Filey's Daryl Campling, along with another ex-club champion, based in Hull, Derek Clark and Knottingley's Alan Taylor.
West Yorkshire is well represented with Ian Armstrong, Rodger Wibberley and Dean Harrison, son of Sidecar expert Conrad. Whilst brothers Mick and Mark Goodings will be carrying the hopes of Doncaster as will fellow south Yorkshire competitor Dean Hindson.
Teesside is also well represented with Mike Minns, David Bell, Nigel Rae, Stephen Degnan, Ian Gardner, George Stainthorp, Keith Pringle, Daley Mathison and 'veteran' Dave Woolams.
Making the trip north from Lincolnshire will be Jules Croft, Ivan Lintin, Ross Johnson, Paul Hedison, Dave Hewson, Joshua Leaning and Andy Kirk.
Conrad Harrison will be travelling from Bradford aiming to continue his success of last year in the sidecar races. Likewise Thirsk's Tony Thirkell and 'close neighbour' John Chandler (Harrogate) will also be present as will others charioteers, Greg Lambert, David Hirst and David Lee.
The popular Oliver's Mount, Scarborough closed public road course is where the action will be on Sunday 18th April, commencing with practice between 08.30am and 10.00am. Qualifying will continue between 10.00am and 11.30am, with the first of the 14 races getting underway at 12.30pm.
Admission is ?15.00, children under 15 free of charge, when accompanied by an adult. Parking is free and overnight camping is available at ?10.00.
