Senior TT success for Brady
Andrew Brady won the Senior race on his GSXR750 Suzuki to give his Martin Bullock Manxsport team a double win in the two most prestigious races of the Isle of Man Manx Grand Prix festival week.
After half an hour's delay to allow the TT course to dry a little, the Senior Grand Prix got underway. At Glen Helen on the first lap, a mere four seconds separated Brady from Grant Wagstaffe and Shaun Anderson, setting the tone for a thrilling four lap battle for the duration of the race.
Despite an opening lap of 122.58mph on the damp mountain circuit, Brady held less than a one second lead over Anderson on corrected time as they headed down Bray Hill for the second lap, with Bedford man Wagstaffe a close third.
Having gauged the level of grip available, Brady upped his pace on lap two and stretched his lead to 11 seconds by the time he came in for fuel, who had overhauled Anderson.
Wagstaffe used his Duck's Cross Racing Yamaha to good effect, hounding Brady for the remainder of the race, cutting his lead to just three seconds at the Bungalow on the final lap.
The Ulsterman held his nerve though to win the Senior title at his very first attempt with a race average speed of 113.437mph from Wagstaffe who managed to avoid the disappointment of his retirement in Mondays Junior race in second place.
Manxman Dan Sayle completed the podium places after County Down resident Anderson, who had set the fastest lap of practice week on his GSXR750, had been forced to retire at Kerrowmoar.
