Foggy to make NW200 appearance
World Superbike legend Carl Fogarty will perform demo laps at this year's Relentless International North West 200.
Fogarty's appearance - on race day, Saturday 19th May - will mark his first visit to the North West for 19 years. The Englishman last attended in 1993, when he won both Superbike races. Carl's father George also raced at the North West in the 1970s.
"I am really looking forward to coming back to the North West after all these years," said Fogarty. "I have always been a keen supporter of this great road race and no doubt it will be incredibly nostalgic for me to return to the North West 200."
Fogarty is the most successful WSBK rider of all time, winning the world title in 1994, 1995, 1998 and 1999. In 1998 he was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Honours list before retiring in 2000 following a crash at Phillip Island, Australia.
"It is a feather in our cap to bring Carl back to the North West 200," said North West 200 Technical Director Mervyn Whyte MBE. "I was instrumental in bringing him here back in 1993 when he thrilled the crowds with his skill and won both Superbike Races.
"It was a memorable Race Day and we are very much looking forward to having this all-time road racing legend return to the North West 200 to once again wow the spectators."
Fogarty will ride a new Ducati.
