Bruce Anstey ended 2013 without an international road racing victory but the evergreen New Zealand man proved he is still blisteringly fast when it matters.
Anstey pushed Michael Dunlop all the way in the second Supersport race at the Isle of Man TT, losing out by only two seconds at the flag after also finishing as the runner-up to Dunlop in the first race.
A fifth place in the Superstock race was followed by a return to the podium in the Senior TT behind John McGuinness and Dunlop, when he set the fastest lap of the race to outgun James Hillier for the final rostrum place.
Anstey's lap of 131.531mph on the final lap was fractions of a second outside McGuinness's Senior record of 131.578mph.
The Kiwi scored a haul of rostrum finishes at the Ulster Grand Prix, twice finishing as the runner-up in the Supersport races and claiming third in the Superstock class.
He also finished second to Guy Martin in Superbike race two, proving he remains a force to be reckoned with even if an international triumph went begging this year.
The Padgetts Honda star also stood on the podium at the North West 200 in May, clinching second place in the Supersport and Superstock classes before the event was abandoned due to bad weather.
Anstey shows no signs of slowing down and with his vast experience and bags of natural ability, the popular roads ace cannot be discounted in any class at the internationals in 2014, when he will line-up in Clive Padgett's famous rainbow colours for a third successive season.
