Richardson claims ELRC.
Lee Richardson won the 2003 Elite League Riders' Championship on his home Coventry track on Saturday night. And to complete a great night for the Brandon club, Richardson's Bees team-mate Andreas Jonsson finished in second place, with Scott Nicholls of Ipswich third. There was more frustration for Jason Crump, who had looked the favourite going into the Final only to suffer engine failure on the start line.

Richardson was delighted to lift the title and said: "It's fantastic to win, especially with it being at Coventry. The home riders got a great reception all night. I knew I would get gate four for the Final, and I was lucky to make a good start and then I never looked behind."
Pre-meeting favorites Tony Rickardsson and Leigh Adams were never in contention. It was an emotional evening for Oxford's Todd Wiltshire who was riding in the event for the last time as he is to retire at tye end of the season.
The Richardson/Jonsson 1-2 gave the Coventry supporters something to cheer after missing out on the Elite League champinship to Poole.
