An injury-hit Reading Racers team will undergo another thorough examination this week with two Premier Trophy meetings in the next three days.

On Monday night the Ideal Video Racers host the Newport Wasps at Smallmead Stadium (7.30pm), and then Wednesday evening they travel to Norfolk for a tough encounter against the Kings Lynn Stars at the Norfolk Arena.

The Racers will go into both meetings without their injured duo of Danny Bird and Chris Mills. Smallmead bosses are actively searching for a short-term replacement to replace their injured heat-leader, but in the meantime will operate the rider-replacement facility until a suitable rider can be found.

Rye House's Steve Boxall will replace Mills against Newport, with his replacement against Kings Lynn still to be announced at time of going to press.

Reading will welcome back Matej Zagar for these two meetings, after the Slovenian was away racing in the first round of the Slovenian/ Croatian Championship on Saturday. Zagar will be keyed up for his Racers return, having won the opening round of the championship with a 15-point maximum.

Racers go into Monday's clash with the Wasps needing to win by at least six points to pick up the aggregate bonus point having lost 49-44 in the corresponding fixture two weeks ago in South Wales.
