Masters is a Racer.

Reading have made a change to their starting seven by swooping to sign Steve Masters on loan for the remainder of the season, with Chris Mills making way for the former Swindon rider.

Reading promoter Pat Bliss explained the change, she said, "We feel we must make a move to strengthen up and Steve seems the ideal choice - it is unfortunate that we needed to leave someone out to do it and it was a very
hard decision.

"Chris has done absolutely nothing wrong and has ridden well in an extremely difficult berth, but averages dictate and this was the only move we could make. We must now see how the weekend and Monday go before making any other
long term decision."

Masters spent last season with Rye House where he raced to a 6.62 average with the Hertfordshire club, before starting this season with Belle Vue in the Elite League. He found the going tough in the top flight with the
Manchester club in the opening weeks of the season, and was eventually dropped in the middle of April to make way for Rusty Harrison and Krister Marsh who were to share the role.

Masters addition to the side should certainly add some middle-order strength to the Racers team, with the rider having previously been a heat-leader at Premier League level with Isle of Wight, Swindon, Newport and Trelawny. He
will make his Racers debut at Workington on Saturday.
