"Although I was not part of the club when Mike was main team sponsor, but I know from my discussions with Pete Toogood how much he valued Mike's support." Commented Golding. "I am sure Pete would like me to go on record to thank Mike for his support and contributions to the team and club as a whole, and I am very pleased that Mike has decided to continue his backing of the team by way of becoming a team partner."
As well as announcing Mike Manning Audio as a team partner for 2007, Mike Golding has also confirmed that the club will be entering a team in the newly formed British Academy League.
"The team will be run under the direction of Ray Dickson, the club's youth development officer for the past two years, and will be known as the Somerset Giants." Explained Golding. "We have been fortunate to gain the backing of Talon for the team and I look forward to watching the youngsters progress throughout the season."
The British Academy League has been established to nurture young British speedway talent, each team comprising of four riders, and meetings being contested over 6 heats after the conclusion of the main meeting. Each club will be able to select its own four riders, the only criteria being that they are aged from 15-21; one of three can be from a team's Premier League line up, so long as they have an average of less than 4 points.
