Robbie Kessler begins the 2001 speedway season as 'a man on a mission.' He
has again signed for Premier League team Sheffield and is expecting success
on a track well suited to his spectacular style.

The German, who has become an adopted Yorkshireman, knows that 2001 will be
a big year for him - and he's determined to make it his best yet.

"I'm really up for it this season," confirmed Kessler. "I am more organised
than I have ever been and have spent a great deal of time during the close
season investing in a purpose built workshop. I have invested in my career
and am confident it will pay off".

However, the 27 year-old revealed that his preparations for the new season
have extended well beyond the new workshop.

"I have a new mechanic who is very good and that will take much of the
pressure off me on race nights," he explained. "Additionally I have a good
support team backing me and I'm grateful for their help. My first meeting of
the season is Sunday 18th March when I compete in the Northern Classic
meeting at my home track (Sheffield). It's a tough meeting as some good
Elite League boys are in the field but I'll be doing my best and should have
the beating of most of them on my home track."

After Sundays race, Robbie's season will continue with Sheffield's Yorkshire
Cup away fixture at local rivals Hull, on Wednesday March 21, with the
return leg at Sheffield the following night.

Meanwhile, his future ambitions include qualifying for the Grand Prix Series
(Speedway's World Championship), something that many feel is well within his
capabilities. He has already taken the next step towards that goal with the
news that he'll be riding as Number One for Sheffield this year, which means
going out in the first race against the best the opposition has to offer.

"That should suit me well", Kessler stated confidently. "I am a very fast
starter and will be hard to pass once in front. I'm really on a mission now.
My engines are fast, my head is right and my support team first class. I aim
to make heat one belong to me every meeting and have never been so prepared,
or so relaxed, going into a new season".
