Watson reunites with Smart again.

Following the recent signing of Frank Smart, Newport have moved to retain Craig Watson for 2003 when the popular Australian duo will again spearhead the Wasp's campaign.

Watson has spent most of his British speedway career with the South Wales club apart from an ill-fated dally with Poole in the Elite League a couple of seasons ago which was blighted by injury and poor form.

Following the recent signing of Frank Smart, Newport have moved to retain Craig Watson for 2003 when the popular Australian duo will again spearhead the Wasp's campaign.

Watson has spent most of his British speedway career with the South Wales club apart from an ill-fated dally with Poole in the Elite League a couple of seasons ago which was blighted by injury and poor form.

But a return to Newport last season proved a welcome tonic and saw Watson return to impressive form. He topped the Newport averages and represented his employers with credit in the Premier League Riders' Championship at Belle Vue.

Watson apparently still holds ambitions of another crack at Elite League racing and another successful season with the Wasps could set him on the way to that perhaps in 2004.
