Robson faces up to fitness race.

Stuart Robson is battling to be fit to take his place in the Coventry team for Saturday's British League Cup trip to Premier League Stoke. Robson damaged ankle ligaments when he crashed doubling-down for Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday night.
He went into the fence in the last heat of the 47-43 home defeat by Edinburgh.

The Bees have named the same line-up who disposed of Belle Vue at Brandon last weekend, a 53-36 win bringing them their second win in the British League Cup but just failing to claim the aggregate bonus point.

Skipper Billy Hamill led the way with a full 15-point maximum, his second unbeaten BLC performance at Brandon so far this season. Stoke have yet to announce their replacement for Robbie Kessler, who is back home in Germany having a broken arm pinned.

Coventry then return to Elite League action at Eastbourne next Monday night (June 9) The new averages mean that Stuart Robson moves into the main body of the team for the first time this season, and he will ride at No. 4.

Ryan Fisher drops down to reserve, but the 19-year-old Californian is missing on Monday as he is riding in a World Under 21 Championship semi-final at Abensberg in Germany. Fisher will be attempting to make it third time lucky, having missed out on reaching the final in both the last two seasons.

A harsh exclusion in the 2001 semi-final at Rybnik ended his hopes and then a bad crash at King's Lynn just days before last year's semi-final ruled him out again. "Getting to the final has been my main goal this year," said Fisher, "and it is something I have been working towards from the start of the season. I am determined to make it after the problems of the last two years."

David Howe, third in last year's World Under 21 final, and fellow Brits Simon Stead, Chris Harris and Andrew Appleton also ride in the Abensberg semi-final, as do Jarek Hampel, Rory Schlein and Niels Kristian Iversen. Fisher will be covered by a guest at Eastbourne, though boss Colin Pratt has still to announce the identity of the young American's replacement.
