Sadler: I've been trying everything.

Nigel Sadler appeared to have finally shaken off the winter cobwebs ,albeit in August, with his performance for Rye House against Arena Essex on Saturday. And nobody was more happy than the man himself.

He said: "It's a huge relief, I've been trying everything, different set ups, different engines and I could sense that the supporters were beginning to lose faith. It's been a tough time for the team and for me personally. When you go out and just get a few points as a heat leader it's disastrous."

"Speedway is my living and if you're not earning the money then you can't put it back into the bikes. I've only got one sponsor, AS Carpentry Contractors, and I've pretty much drained him trying to solve these problems. And while speedway is a confidence game you've got to have your bike going at the same time."

"And this bike was really going, it was fast out of the starts and it had good top end speed and it's quite difficult to set a bike up to do that as you usually sacrifice one for the other. What's amazing though is that I wasn't even planning on using that bike at all. I haven't ridden it for months."

"But my first bike has some ignition troubles when I went out for the first race and I have to thank David Mason for getting me out of trouble by letting me jump on his machine. There are still two months of the season left to go and I just hope to score double figures in every meeting."
