4. Christina Nielsen
Christina Nielsen has stood out as one of motorsport’s most successful female drivers in recent years, taking back-to-back GTD titles in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with Scuderia Corsa in 2016 and 2017.
For 2018, Nielsen is embarking on a new adventure with Wright Motorsports, starting off at Daytona this weekend. She will share the #58 Porsche 911 GT3 R with sports car veteran Patrick Long, Robert Renauer and Mathieu Jaminet as she looks to add a Daytona class victory to her resume, having finished no higher than sixth over the years.
“Of course we’re hoping for a podium, and of course a victory, especially after the results I experienced at last year’s race,” Nielsen said. “We were leading at Daytona with two hours to go, then had a mechanical failure.
“But we’ll just go in and take it one hour at a time and see where we’re at once the daylight hits. Then it’s all about where you’re at when there’s just a couple of hours left in the race.”
