Triple Eight-run Team Betta Electrical has confirmed its driver pairings for the forthcoming endurance races at Sandown and Bathurst, with Paul Radisich and Max Wilson pairing up in car #88, and Yvan Muller and Dean Canto taking the controls of the #888 entry.
The quartet spent a day putting both cars and drivers through their paces at Queensland Raceway this week, in the last shakedown before the Betta Electrical Sandown 500 on 10-12 September. Time was taken to set the cars up to suit both driver pairings, with drivers also practicing their changeover techniques. The team also honed their skills in both brake pad and tyre changing throughout the day and, at the end of an eight-hour session, came away pleased with the results.
Current British Touring Car champion, Yvan Muller, flew to Brisbane from the UK to take part in the test and familiarisation process, gaining valuable laps during the course of the day. V8 Supercars are not new to the Frenchman, however, as he has previously raced in the endurance events with HRT and K-Mart Racing.
"The cars are very different to the ones I drive in Europe, with a lot more power and different handling characteristics taking a little time to adjust your driving style to," Muller acknowledged, "I'll be out there to perform to the best of my ability - I know we have a strong car and, with Dean as my partner, I know will have a great opportunity to perform at our best."
Radisich and Wilson are also quietly confident of their chances in the 500km Bathurst warm-up event.
"The car performed extremely well during testing, and we both posted competitive times whist bedding in various component items," they agreed.
Radisich was the top qualifier in last year's Sandown event, taking fourth place in the top ten shoot-out and going on to finish the race in seventh. Canto, again driving the team's second entry finished 14th.
