SS8 stopped following Pykalisto crash.
Organisers of the Uddeholm Swedish Rally have been forced to stop SS8 - Fredriksberg, after Peugeot privateer Juuso Pykalisto rolled his 206 WRC, which was then hit by the works entry of Harri Rovanpera.
Both crews were unhurt in the incident, but retirement was instant and, with both cars blocking the road, the stage was halted.
Of the nine competitors that did complete the stage though, Citroen's Carlos Sainz posted the fastest time, followed by Toni Gardemeister [Skoda] and Colin McRae [Citroen].

Of the nine competitors that did complete the stage though, Citroen's Carlos Sainz posted the fastest time, followed by Toni Gardemeister [Skoda] and Colin McRae [Citroen].
Markko Martin [Ford], Petter Solberg [Subaru] and Freddy Loix [Hyundai] took the next three positions, separated by just 1.2 seconds.
For those crews that were unable to complete the stage stewards decided to award Sainz's time to Marcus Gronholm, Tommi Makinen and Richard Burns, and Armin Schwarz's time to the remaining crews, which included Sebastien Loeb and Didier Auriol. This decision was, according to the stewards, "based upon perfomance in the rally to date".
