Citroen's Colin McRae has admitted he is 'pissed off' following the problems that dogged his event at the Acropolis Rally.

McRae, who was third following the first special stage, only to be slapped with a 50 second penalty after problems re-starting his car for SS2, recovered to fourth with only two stages to go, however engine problems in the penultimate test dropped the Brit to eighth.

The Scot told British newspaper The Guardian: "I never say 'could have, ifs or buts'. I don't think the performance was quite there to win but it's a hell of a lot of effort for one point. I'm pissed off."

Thus far this year McRae has yet to win with the Xsara WRC, indeed out of the six events contested, his best finish was at the Monte Carlo Rally in January, when he finished runner-up behind team-mate, Sebastien Loeb.

The third Citroen, driven by veteran Carlos Sainz, has also won this year, the Spaniard taking victory in Turkey, and coming home second at the weekend in Greece. Sainz is currently second in the drivers' championship, five points behind leader Richard Burns. McRae lies sixth overall, on 18 points.
