Peugeot boss takes dig at Pirelli?

Peugeot boss, Jean-Pierre Nicolas has seemingly taken a pop at Pirelli - blaming their tyres for their inability to take the fight to Citroen and Sebastien Loeb.

Peugeot switched to Pirelli rubber at the start of this year, and with the French manufacturer set to withdraw from the sport at the end of this season, Peugeot have no time to waste 'getting to know them'.

Peugeot boss, Jean-Pierre Nicolas has seemingly taken a pop at Pirelli - blaming their tyres for their inability to take the fight to Citroen and Sebastien Loeb.

Peugeot switched to Pirelli rubber at the start of this year, and with the French manufacturer set to withdraw from the sport at the end of this season, Peugeot have no time to waste 'getting to know them'.

Speaking following the conclusion of the second leg of the Rally NZ, Nicolas added that while Marcus Gronholm has 'done a remarkable job' he will not be able to win 'with the equipment he has available'. Furthermore although there was no direct reference to Pirelli, reading between the lines, it does seem that he's not entirely happy with them.

"On this rally, tyres make the difference," he stated.

"We managed to find the tyres from Pirelli's range which were best suited to these types of conditions, and these allowed Marcus to pull out a slight advantage over [Petter] Solberg. But Sebastien Loeb and his tyre choices seem untouchable.

"Marcus has done a remarkable job today, but as things stand he will not be able to win this rally with the equipment he has available."

What does he mean by 'equipment'? - The 307 or Pirelli tyres?
