The Acropolis Rally of Greece has been named the 'Rally of the Year', following voting by the manufacturers' in the sport and the ISC - the commercial rights holder for the WRC.
The Greek event was especially popular after the addition of a super-special stage in Athens on the Thursday prior to the start of the event proper. The test utilised the Olympic Stadium, which also played host to the 2004 Olympic Games.

"The capacity crowd attendance at the Athens Olympic stadium was seen as a new high point for the WRC, in a rally which has progressed in every respect over the past three years," read a statement from the manufacturers' and the ISC.
The event was also praised for its excellent yet compact itinerary', quality stages, good service park facilities, knowledgeable organisation team and for greatly improving spectator safety.
Greece beat the Neste Rally Finland and the Telstra Rally Australia to take the award, those two events coming in second and third respectively.
