Peugeot Sport project manager, Bertrand Vallat has said that their new rally car, the 207 Super 2000, has shown good reliability since they began testing with it in mid-May.
Speaking after the initial development tests on both the loose and on tarmac, he added that test drivers, Gilles Panizzi, Sebastian Lindholm and Bryan Bouffier have all given the car the thumbs-up following their initial runs.
"To start with on the loose surface, the 207 Super 2000 showed a good level of reliability which was confirmed again on tarmac some weeks later. We are only at the initial stages of development but all the test drivers who have followed each other behind the wheel of the car have been satisfied with both the handling and performance," he noted.
It is hoped that the car, which was fired up for the first time on May 16, when it was watched by Vallat and Peugeot Sport's technical manager, Bruno Famin, will follow in the footsteps of the other great Peugeot Rally cars of old, such as the 205 T16 and the all conquering 206 WRC, winner of three WRC championships and a total of 65 podiums. The Peugeot 207 Super 2000 will be available for customers and privateers to campaign next year.
