Kronos Citroen are apparently in talks with the stewards of the Cyprus Rally to try and get their number two driver, Daniel Sordo awarded notional times for the final two stages, after he crashed out on the 'nullified' DTS.

Apparently all the drivers' were told before the start of the Down Town super special that their times from it would not count towards the overall classification. However as Sordo was one of the first few drivers to start the 3.40 kilometre test, there is speculation he might not have got the message. Indeed, it would certainly have been bizarre for him to push so hard if the stage was for nothing more than fun.

Kronos of course are keen for him to keep tenth place, as he will then pick up the final manufacturers' point, something that could prove crucial come the end of the season, in terms of the Belgian-based squad beating BP Ford to the constructors' title.

Whether or not he will actually be awarded notional times for SS21 and SS22 and therefore still 'finish' and take tenth, remains to be confirmed.

More to follow as we get it...
