Suzuki's Per-Gunnar Andersson will find out the result of his appeal next week, when the FIA's International Court of Appeal convenes to discuss the stewards' decision to strip him of his Junior WRC win on the Rally of Turkey.
Andersson lost the victory after the stewards claimed that a mechanic assisted the Swede with some work on his Swift S1600 in an area where service was not allowed. The incident allegedly occurred on day two prior to the second running of the Akdeniz University super special. The decision by the stewards, not only deprived P-G of the win in Turkey and the 10 points that went with it, but also, his second Junior WRC title.
Speaking following the news in Turkey, P-G strongly denied any wrong doing: "What can I say? I'm very disappointed because the exclusion is not fair and is based on information that is not true," he explained.
"I was checking the engine before the superspecial on Saturday night, and I was doing this on my own without any assistance. A mechanic is allowed to be there to help change the light pod and that was all that he did. So of course we will appeal this incorrect decision."
The International Court of Appeal will hear the appeal against the stewards' decision on Monday November 27 in Paris.
"The decision is expected [the following day] on Tuesday, November 28, in the afternoon," confirmed a statement from the FIA, the sports governing body.
If the stewards' decision is upheld, the battle for the Junior World Rally Championship title will go to the wire on the Wales Rally GB, with Urmo Aava leading on 30 points, followed by Andersson on 29, Patrik Sandell on 28 and Britain's Guy Wilks on 26.
