Suzuki's Urmo Aava has announced that he has put together a deal that will see him compete in a World Rally Car this season, in addition to using the Swift 1600 in the Junior Rally Championship.

Aava, who is currently second in the JRC standings, has signed up to use a privately entered Mitsubishi Lancer WRC on five events in total - four in the WRC.

The Estonian is planning to fit them in around his JRC programme and as such he will do the WRC events in Greece, Finland, New Zealand and Wales, in addition to doing a national rally with the Lancer in his home country - Rally Otepaa. Furthermore while Finland is a round of the JRC it is not one of Aava's nominated events.

"We've worked hard to get a chance at the higher level," the 28-year-old told rallye-magazin.de, "and thanks to the faith of my supporters and partners we can now do this. My goal for the first rallies is to get some experience and try and finish.

"MMSP were very professional when I tested the car last month and gave me many useful tips. That makes me confident that we should be able to obtain some good results this year."

For the record, Aava has been competing in the WRC for a number of years now and has been active in the Junior series since 2003. He achieved his best result in the Junior standings last season, when he finished second overall.
