Ex-F1 driver Wurz to make World RX debut in Norway 

Ex-Formula 1 driver and two-time Le Mans winner Alexander Wurz will make his competitive FIA World Rallycross Championship debut at the next round of the 2018 season in Norway. 

Wurz, who contested 69 F1 races for Benetton, McLaren and Williams, will race MJP Racing Team Austria’s Ford Fiesta as a wildcard entry in Norway for the fifth round of the campaign, which takes place at Hell on June 8-10.

Ex-Formula 1 driver and two-time Le Mans winner Alexander Wurz will make his competitive FIA World Rallycross Championship debut at the next round of the 2018 season in Norway. 

Wurz, who contested 69 F1 races for Benetton, McLaren and Williams, will race MJP Racing Team Austria’s Ford Fiesta as a wildcard entry in Norway for the fifth round of the campaign, which takes place at Hell on June 8-10. 

The 44-year-old Austrian previously tested with the Austrian squad and joins multiple Austrian Rallycross champion and team owner Max Pucher in completing the outfit’s two-car line-up. 

Wurz’s scheduled appearance takes the Rallycross entry list up to 22 cars. Swedish driver Johan Kristoffersson currently leads the championship from nine-time World Rally champion Sebastien Loeb, having claimed two wins from the opening three races so far in 2018. 

Wurz recently completed some running for the Toyota LMP1 squad he used to race for during the World Endurance Championship Prologue test at Paul Ricard ahead of the new season.
