After Tanak headed up the early proceedings, his Toyota teammate Meeke has jumped up to the front thanks to a pair of solid showings on SS4 and SS5 after winning SS2.

After Tanak headed up the early proceedings, his Toyota teammate Meeke has jumped up to the front thanks to a pair of solid showings on SS4 and SS5 after winning SS2.
With SS3 cancelled due to safety conditions in very wet and muddy running, Meeke leads Neuville by just 5.4s, while Citroen’s Ogier is tied for third place with Tanak.
In tightly-contested opening stages, Jari-Matti Latvala sees all three Toyotas inside the top five and is just 8.8s off leader Meeke.
Slightly further back Andreas Mikkelsen sits in sixth place for Hyundai despite picking up a puncture on SS4 having fought back strongly with victory on SS5.
Dani Sordo sits seventh for Hyundai ahead of lead M-Sport Ford driver Elfyn Evans in eighth place but only 14.8s off the lead.
Esapekka Lappi holds ninth place in the Citroen, having also suffered a puncture on SS4, as final premier class runner Teemu Suninen rounds out the points positions in 10th place for M-Sport Ford.
