Italian World Superbike: Race 2 LIVE UPDATES

Live updates from WorldSBK Race 2 at the Italian World Superbike round.

WorldSBK Race 2 is set to begin at 14:00 local time with Danilo Petrucci starting from pole position.

Still completely dry in Cremona, as yesterday and this morning. Petrucci is surely the favourite for this after his performances so far this weekend, he was essentially peerless in both Race 1 and the Superpole Race.

12:46

Having gone 2-4 so far this weekend, Nicolo Bulega cannot take the championship lead from Toprak Razgatlioglu in this Race 2, but a win would see him close to within four points of the BMW rider.

After the Superpole Race earlier today, it's Danilo Petrucci who will start on pole position as he goes in search of his first ever WorldSBK treble, having only taken his first win in the series yesterday.

Alongside him on the front row will be Alex Lowes and Andrea Iannone. Both the factory Ducati riders are on row two, with Nicolo Bulega fourth and Alvaro Bautista sixth, with the Honda of Iker Lecuona between them.

Race 2

Welcome back to Cremona Circuit for Race 2 of the Italian World Superbike round, the last race of the weekend. It's due to get underway in just under 30 minutes at 14:00 local time.

10:15
Petrucci wins Cremona Superpole Race

Petrucci takes a dominant second win of the weekend at Cremona, and it's Alex Lowes who takes second place after a last lap pass on Iannone, who secures third place in front of Bulega. Bautista ended up sixth after a last lap pass on Locatelli.

10:14
Lap 9/10

It's Petrucci's to lose as we head onto the final lap, but it's now a three-way battle for second, and Lowes has re-passed Bulega for third with one to go.

10:13
Lap 8/10

It's now a 2.1s lead for Petrucci, as Bautista gets himself up to eighth past Tito Rabat.

10:11
Lap 7/10

Petrucci continues to lead comfortably, as Bautista has now caught the battle for sixth and is up to ninth.

10:10
Lap 6/10

Almost a two-second lead for Petrucci now, as the Hondas are now making progress. Lecuona up to eighth, and Vierge in sixth. Bautista remains in 10th place.

10:08
Lap 5/10

It's a 1.5s lead for Petrucci now, as Bulega trims his gap to Iannone to 0.5s. Bautista is still down in 10th place.

10:06
Lap 4/10

Still a lead of 1.2 seconds for Petrucci over Iannone, but Bulega is the fastest rider in the top three with six laps to go.

10:05
Lap 3/10

Petrucci continues to lead, and he has an advantage of over one second now. Iannone is also clear in second place, as Bulega has got himself back up to third place, past Lowes, after dropping to fifth on lap one.

10:04

Marvin Fritz has crashed out, but seems to be okay.

10:03
Lap 2/10

Petrucci leads from Iannone and Alex Lowes, with Bulega in fourth place.

10:01
SP Race start

It's lights out in Cremona for the Superpole Race, and Petrucci has made the holeshot ahead of Iannone and Bulega.

09:58
Warm-up lap

The warm-up lap is underway in Cremona. Conditions are perfectly dry, and it seems like the SCQ rear tyre is going to be the preferred choice in this one.

09:56

Only around five minutes remaining until lights out now. Perhaps one of the most interesting things in this 10-lapper will be the pace of Andrea Iannone. He was second when he crashed out at turn seven yesterday, and was not appearing to struggle with the pace being set by Petrucci. There's every chance this could turn into a duel between the two satellite Ducati riders.

09:51

Second place yesterday saw Nicolo Bulega close to within 35 points of Toprak Razgatlioglu in the championship. Nothing less than two wins today will see him take the championship lead into Aragon next week.

09:45
Grid

It's Nicolo Bulega one pole position again for this one, with Andrea Iannone in second place.

Danilo Petrucci will start third - he was sixth on the grid yesterday due to a grid penalty from FP2 on Friday afternoon. After winning Race 1, Petrucci was also fastest in Warm Up this morning.

Alvaro Bautista finished third from 13th on the grid yesterday, but will be hoping for something in the top nine here to improve his grid position for Race 2 later today.

09:41

Welcome to Cremona Circuit for live updates from this morning's WorldSBK Superpole Race. We're just under 20 minutes away from lights out at 11:00 local time.
