Foggy keeps faith in Haydon.

Carl Fogarty is confident that James Haydon is set to prove his abilities to the Superbike world after suffering a difficult return to the WSBK stage, having previously ridden as a privateer in the 1997 series.

A combination of problems with the Foggy Petronas FP1 and his own errors have left Hayden still searching for his first top ten finish, with two rounds - and four races - gone.

But team owner Foggy believes patience is the key for the Brit to succeed in turning his potential into the kind of results that would do his skills and determination justice.

"I think James has been a bit unlucky. He has made a couple of wrong decisions in the first couple of rounds but he has also had quite a lot of bad luck, on top of the fact that he didn't race last year," said Carl. "So I think that, when everything comes together, he will start to surprise people and mix it a lot higher up the field.

"He has beaten the likes of Hodgson and Walker before in the British championship, so I don't see any reason why he won't be closer to (team-mate) Troy (Corser) within the next few rounds.

"Troy is obviously very good at setting up and developing a bike. He will always find a way to make a bike faster but James' style is a lot different - on and off the throttle a bit harder whereas Troy carries the corner speed like I used to," added the four times world champion.

"I know that I wasn't the best in the world at setting a bike up so I know we have to be patient, as James was doing very similar times to Troy in a lot of the tests we had during the winter," concluded Foggy.
