Whitham: 'Mad' Max fantastic for WSBK.
Former racer and currant Eurosport commentator Jamie Whitham believes Max Biaggi's World Superbike switch is fantastic for the production based championship - partly because he is 'as mad as a box of frogs'!
The hard-to-handle Roman, a former four-times 250cc world champion and triple 500cc/MotoGP World Championship runner-up, has signed to ride for Alstare Suzuki in WSBK next year, after missing the 2006 season following a fall out with Honda that ultimately ended his grand prix career.

"For the championship, it's absolutely fantastic," Whitham told Crash.net Radio, when asked about Biaggi's Superbike switch. "Not just because he has been and could still be - it remains to be seen - one of the best riders in the world, but also because he is as mad as a box of frogs! You just never know what's going to happen with him and that unpredictability is brilliant.
"We know the Suzuki is very good, he's going to do a lot of testing with it and if he makes a good start to the championship I can see him as a frontrunner every weekend. But he's fragile, I think it's fair to say."
The ever-entertaining Whitham, a double BSB champion and race winner in both WSBK and WSS, will return alongside Jack Burnicle to commentate on Biaggi's debut Superbike season in 2007 - and might also continue to air his unique brand of humour and insight on the BSB series.
"Definitely World Superbikes for Eurosport and maybe some pundit work for BSB as well - it depends on how many rounds clash," said Jamie of his 2007 plans. "This year was brilliant because only about two rounds clashed. We'll have to wait and see when the dates are finalised."
