Kagayama: I didn't crash - I'm happy!

Triple 2006 race winner Yukio Kagayama edged out new superstar team-mate Max Biaggi to lead the Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra challenge by the end of the three-day Phillip Island test.

Suzuki's top team had two different engine specifications to try on its new 2007 spec GSX-R1000, requiring plenty of feedback from the riders, and Kagayama admitted he was pleased just to have gone three days without a fall!

"In the three days here I didn't crash so I am very happy about that!" smiled Yuki, who finished the test in sixth position, 1.6secs behind fastest man Troy Bayliss. "This test has been a lot of hard work and we have had many things to try on the new 2007 bike. But we have done a lot of very useful work, even if the lap times were not as good as maybe we were expecting. I cannot stress how much work we have all done during these three days and we have gathered a lot of very useful information.

"We will analyse this back in the workshop and then work on the next stage at the next test. Phillip Island is always a good track for testing because of the variety and I hope the next test will move us forward some more and we can be ready for the first race in Qatar," he added.

Biaggi, who fell once, finished the test 0.1secs slower than the Japanese.
