BE1 Triumph has confirmed its World Supersport programme for 2011 by signing Superbike racer Luca Scassa to join Chaz Davies in the scaled down team.

The British manufacturer has entered four Daytona 675s for Davies, David Salom - and more recently - Vittorio Iannuzzo and Matthieu Lagrive this season, though only Davies has made it onto the podium.

As such, the Welshman will be retained by the Italian-run outfit for 2011 where he will be joined by Scassa, who moves from the World Superbike scene having made a substantial impression on the privateer Supersonic Ducati this season.

For Davies, he is delighted to be sticking with Triumph for another season as he looks to spearhead its campaign to get a first World Supersport race win.

"I'm really happy to be doing a second year with Triumph and BE1 Racing. It's a long time since I have been in that situation and I really want to take advantage of all the good work that we've done this year.

"I enjoy working with this team and we have plans to further develop the Daytona 675. We have shown this year that we can run at the front and we can only move forward in 2011."

Scassa, meanwhile, cited his motivations to join Triumph as a perfect opportunity to get involved with a factory-backed team.

"I have been riding 1000cc bikes in recent years but I have experience of supersport racing from the Italian championship. I am looking forward to riding the Daytona 675. This will be my first experience of a three cylinder bike and I think that the extra torque will prove advantageous at some tracks.

"BE1 Racing has ambitions to be at the very top and one of my motivations for signing is that I can see the desire to win in the eyes of Giuliano Rovelli (owner of BE1 Racing).

"It is important for me to be racing with a factory team again and I can see the great progress that Triumph has made in the championship over the past few years."

While Triumph will persevere with Supersport racing in 2011, rumours have surfaced that the British manufacturer is keen to step up to Superbike competition from 2012 with an all-new three-cylinder machine.

According to GPOne.com, both Davies and Scassa have been signed by Triumph to both compete at Supersport level in 2011 and also develop a new competition Superbike for entry in two years time.

While BE1 Racing team manager Giuliano Rovelli is coy on future plans, he is certain that the pairing of Davies and Scassa will bring success to the team in 2011.

"The renewal of Chaz's contract is the logical result of the excellent job he has done throughout the season. As well as getting onto the podium, Chaz has proved that he can take advantage of every situation thanks to the serenity with which he tackles his job. I'm convinced that as he is still young he's still got a lot of time to improve.

"Luca Scassa is the big news for 2011, he has impressed me for the determination he takes onto the track. He and Chaz will make up a strong pairing."
