Dorna to 'inspect' Monza for 2015 return

Following the confirmation that it has been dropped from the World Superbike Championship schedule in 2014, Dorna officials will visit the Monza Circuit later this month with a view to recommending changes required for a potential return in 2015.
The historic Italian circuit has been a regular fixture on the WSBK calendar over the years, but will be absent in 2014 after seemingly failing to obtain FIM homologation for next season.
Famous for its high-speed straights and tight chicanes, the Monza Circuit remains a popular venue with riders' and fans alike, prompting a meeting between Dorna and SIAS, the management company for Monza, to discuss the future of the venue.
As a result, Dorna has agreed to complete an inspection of the circuit by the end of the year and highlight any potential modifications required in order to obtain an FIM homologation renewal. It is then hoped Monza will be permitted to return to the WSBK calendar in 2015.
Italy will still host two rounds of the World Superbike Championship in 2014, with Imola and Misano featured on the schedule.
