Lowes declared fit to race despite Rea collision injury

Alex Lowes will be able to take up his front row grid slot for this morning's Superpole Race after he was declared fit to ride despite a shoulder injury.

The Pata Yamaha rider suffer shoulder pain and contusions to his wrist in a collision with Jonathan Rea on the final corner of race one, with the heavy impact even ripping the glove off his left hand.

Requiring a final check by medical staff to get the green light to race today, Lowes has nonetheless been fit and will now get a chance to fight for the podium again having been elevated to the front row for the second race of the weekend.

This has come at the expense of erstwhile pole sitter Rea, who was demoted to the back of the grid as a punishment for causing the accident with Lowes.
