Chaz Davies fastest on opening day of Aragon WorldSBK test

Chaz Davies followed up his impressive debut for the GoEleven Ducati team at the Official WorldSBK test in Catalunya by topping day-one in Aragon.
The Welsh rider led the way from both factory Ducati riders Michael Ruben-Rinaldi and Scott Redding.
The two-day test at MotorLand Aragon is heavily dominated by Ducati machinery with five out of the ten bikes in action.
Redding was fastest ahead of team-mate Rinaldi at the halfway stage, but it was Davies who went to the top with under two hours remaining.
It will come as no surprise to see Davies claim top spot, as it’s the circuit he has enjoyed the most success at. The 34 year-old has seven wins at the Spanish venue.
In fourth position and the first non Ducati, was GRT Yamaha rider Garrett Gerloff. The American has started 2021 as he ended last season and continues to cement his status as a top five runner.
Another former MotoGP rider Tito Rabat also finished inside the top five for Barni Ducati as he continued his adaptation to Superbike machinery.
The former Moto2 champion was at Aragon only a few days ago testing with WorldSSP and WorldSSP300 riders.
Sixth was Andrea Locatelli who is without team-mate Toprak Razgatlioglu who remains side-lined by Covid-19.
The Turkish rider was in a race against time to be available, but has instead been replaced by World Endurance rider Nicolo Canepa.
Canepa was tenth and last on the timesheets, while Axel Bassani, Kohta Nozane and Christophe Ponsson finished in seventh, eighth and ninth respectively.
