Redding: We can’t make any more mistakes, Misano a special weekend for Rinaldi
Scott Redding and Michael Rinaldi go into Ducati’s home WorldSBK round this weekend at Misano following a double race two DNF in Portugal.
Redding crashed whilst battling championship rival Jonathan Rea for the win, while Rinaldi was taken out on lap two by Garrett Gerloff.
For Redding, it was a costly mistake that saw him lose second spot to Toprak Razgatlioglu in the championship, and one he knows can’t be replicated if he’s to have any chance of recovering the points lost.
"The mistake in Race-2 in Estoril was a serious one. But there is still time to recover. It's clear that we can't make any more mistakes, in fact, it will be necessary to be perfect in order to recover the disadvantage," added Redding.
"I'm curious to see what will happen in Misano because I've never ridden on this circuit with temperatures as high as the ones we will find.
"It's an important event, the home race for the team and for Ducati and for this reason I'm determined and sure I can do well."
It’s not been the start to factory life at Ducati that Rinaldi would have been hoping for, as he’s struggled to challenge for podiums and demonstrate the speed of team-mate Redding so far.
However, Rinaldi was fast during the two-day Misano test in March and comes into his home round ‘with high morale’.
The 25 year-old said: "We arrive in Misano with high morale: despite the incident in Race-2, the Estoril weekend was a very positive one, with a constantly growing feeling. It's clear that this is a very special weekend for me.
"I'm really happy that the circuit will be open to a good number of fans and it will be great to feel their warmth after so many months of races without a public.
"I like the circuit very much, the sensations were positive during the pre-season tests. These are the basis to obtain important results."
