Razgatlioglu leads Gerloff and Rea in two-day Navarra test
Second in the WorldSBK championship Toprak Razgatlioglu finishes two-day Navarra test fastest from fellow Yamaha rider Garrett Gerloff and Jonathan Rea.
The top three could barely be separated as +0.093s covered their fastest times, while Andrea Locatelli was less than two tenths back in fourth.
For all 11 riders who participated in the test - HRC’ Alvaro Bautista and Leon Haslam present for the opening day only, it was a first opportunity to test out the Navarra circuit which hosts round seven on 20-22 August.
Ducati were the big headline team not in attendance, however, Scott Redding, Michael Rinaldi, Chaz Davies, Axel Bassani and Tito Rabat all enjoyed a two-day private pre-season test in Navarra.
Following his first win of the 2021 season in race two at Misano, Razgatlioglu was quickest on both days whilst also setting the most number of laps - 190 - 52 more than Locatelli and Michael Van Der Mark.
Gerloff’s position of second on the timesheets will be a big boost for the American heading into Donington Park for round four, after what’s been an up-and-down start to the year.
Winless last time out, six-time world champion Rea didn’t complete a full two-day schedule after missing the morning session on Monday, before he and the Kawasaki team decided to end their test early in order to keep testing time for later in the year.
Rea’s teammate Alex Lowes was fifth quickest +0.486s. Sixth was Van Der Mark, while Tom Sykes was a further three tenths back in seventh. Jonas Folger was eighth fastest for the Bonovo MGM Racing outfit, and Yamaha test rider Niccolo Canepa rounded out the top nine.
