Scott Redding led every lap of Saturday’s race one at Estoril to take his second WorldSBK victory in succession.
Redding had a close fought battle with Toprak Razgatlioglu throughout after taking the lead from Jonathan Rea at the start.
It wasn’t until the final stages that Rea closed in to make it a three way fight, however, Redding was able to slowly extend his lead with two laps remaining as Rea applied pressure to Razgatlioglu.
Rea got alongside the Yamaha rider twice on the start-finish straight, but just as team-mate Alex Lowes found out in Aragon, Razgatlioglu’s prowess on the brakes was proving difficult to overcome as Rea ultimately settled for third.
Rea will start today’s Superpole race from pole once again, while Redding and Razgatlioglu will also start on the front row.
