Cluzel beats Mahias to Donington pole

Jules Cluzel has stormed to pole position at Donington Park beating World Supersport championship leader Lucas Mahias.

After Friday’s free practice sessions were hit by mixed weather conditions, Superpole qualifying provided somewhat of an unknown.

NRT Yamaha’s Cluzel time his late Superpole 2 run to perfection by charging to pole position with a 1m 30.270s to move two-tenths clear of GRT Yamaha’s Mahias.

Kallio Racing Yamaha’s Sandro Cortese completes the front row after narrowly edging out Randy Krummancher by 0.022s with Hikari Okubo breaking the Yamaha domination in fifth place for Puccetti Kawasaki.

Raffaelle De Rosa completes row two for MV Agusta after Federico Caricasulo struggled in qualifying for GRT Yamaha while Luke Stapleford, running on Yamaha machinery for the first time this season after switching from Triumph, impressed to take eighth place.

Ayrton Badovini completes row three for MV Agusta as Sheridan Morais (Puccetti Kawasaki), Thomas Gradinger (NRT Yamaha) and Andrew Irwin (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda) make up row four.
