Danilo joins CIA Landlords Insurance Honda
Jules Danilo will switch from Moto2 to the World Supersport championship in 2019 with CIA Landlords Insurance Honda.
The 23-year-old French rider made the step up to Moto2 this season but endured a tough campaign with the SAG Team as he failed to score a single point throughout the campaign.
Danilo, a regular points finisher in his Moto3 days, will move to the World Supersport class next year with Simon Buckmaster’s CIA Landlords Insurance Honda and is relishing the fresh chance to impress after a tricky 2018.

“I am really excited to be joining CIA Landlord Insurance Honda next year, one of the most emblematic teams of the Supersport category,” Danilo said. “The team have been there for a long time now and always obtained good results so I’m really excited to be part of this project now.
“I’m sure that with Simon we share the same ambitions to be fighting up front. It’s also important for me after a tough season in Moto2 to be able to bounce back and have such a good opportunity.
“I’ll be training as hard as I can, winter is going to be a bit shorter than usual but I’ll make sure I keep it intense and just get to PhiIip Island as fully fit and ready as I can. Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this happen and I’m looking forward to a great year together.”
Buckmaster was recommended the French rider by manager and ally Michael Batholemy and is confident the team can put together a competitive package for 2019.
“It came about as I was having dinner in Thailand with James Nay who owns Devil Evolution Exhausts and he mentioned Jules Danilo,” Buckmaster said. “We then subsequently learned that Jules is managed by Michael Bartholemy who ran the very successful MarcVDS team for many years winning Moto2 World Championships.
“I know Michael from many years back and I value and respect his opinion, so that gave me even more faith that Jules is a man that can do the job for us. We will announce our second rider soon.”
