FMaster: Caliendo signs with ADM.

ADM Motorsport has confirmed that 19-year old Michele Caliendo will join its line-up for the 2007 International Formula Master season, graduating from his national Formula Renault series.

The Italian is the son of Antonio Caliendo - former agent to Diego Maradona and Roberto Baggio, and current chairman at English club Queens Park Rangers - but has opted to follow a career on four wheels instead of the soccer pitch.

"My dad knows that my passion is motorsport rather than soccer, but I have promised to give my very best to make him proud of me," Caliendo Jr explained, "I am still young and want to gain a lot of experience this year, but I am in one of the best teams in the championship. From what I have heard so far, ADM Motorsport has been successful in every category and I am very thankful to my father, whose friend Severino Nardozzi recommended that I sign up with Renato Melchioretto's team."

Caliendo is the third driver signed by ADM team principal Melchioretto, who has been impressed with his record in the junior ranks.

"We are happy to add this young driver to our line-up," he said, "Michele arrives with one year in the highly rated Italian Formula Renault under his belt and he should be ready to take the challenge of International Formula Master, which has already established its status as a promising route for up-and-coming drivers.

"We are close to signing our fourth driver next week and, with the strongest technical crew ever, we are looking forward to the start of the new season in Valencia. I am very impressed by the performance of the new car and there is no doubt that the media package will give us a significant boast on the marketing side as well.
