Danish team Hartmann Racing has confirmed that it plans to contest selected events during the 2010 World Touring Car Championship season.

The team looks set to take part in the events at Monza and Brands Hatch, with James Thompson driving one of its two Honda Accord Euro Rs.

The British driver has competed for Hartmann in recent seasons in the Danish Touring Car Championship and clinched the European Touring Car Cup in 2009 with victory at Braga.

"Our priority is the European Touring Car Cup, because we want to defend the title James won last year in Braga," team boss Hans Hartmann revealed. "However, we are also looking at occasional outings in the WTCC because we would like to warm Honda up for the future."

Who will partner Thompson during the season ahead remains to be seen, with a number of drivers linked to the role, but the Briton said he was confident that Hartmann could impress in the WTCC.

"I think we can spring a surprise or two at one of those races," he said, "and we will represent ourselves well."
