Hamilton wins F1 2012 Italian GP
Lewis Hamilton converts pole position into victory with a dominant performance at the F1 2012 Italian Grand Prix.
Hamilton led virtually throughout in his McLaren, although he had to up the pace near the end to hold off a fast running Sergio Perez, who finished 4.3 seconds back in his Sauber.
Fernando Alonso meanwhile recovered from his problems in qualifying and came through from tenth on the grid to take the final spot on the podium for Ferrari. Felipe Massa was a very good fourth, yielding to Alonso in the closing stages, with Lotus driver, Kimi Raikkonen fifth followed by the Mercedes' of Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg in sixth and seventh. Paul di Resta, Kamui Kobayashi and Bruno Senna complete the points' scorers.
Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel both had to retire with mechanical problems, with Mark Webber also stopping late on after spinning and flat spotting one of his tyres.
