Trevor Crisp has been announced as the new managing director of Cosworth Racing, as successor to the retiring Dick Scammell.
The appointment of Crisp, who is currently the group chief engineer for powertrain engineer, follows the announcement that the Coventry marque is to enter Formula One next season in place of the Stewart team. He has a long association with the motor and motorsport industries, playing a major part in the development of the current range of Jaguar engines, as well as the famous V12 and XK six-cylinder units, having enjoyed a spell with the Coventry Climax Formula One operation at the beginning of his career.
"I am delighted to be taking over at Cosworth Racing at such a fascinating and crucial time," he said, "Much of our attention will be focused on the new Jaguar Formula One programme for 2000 and beyond but, as Cosworth Racing expands, there are many other exciting projects under way."
Paying tribute to Dick Scammell, Ford Motor Company's chief technical officer Neil Ressler thanked the retiring MD for his commitment to the company.
"Dick came out of retirement to take over the managing directorship of Cosworth Racing a year ago, just after Ford Motor Company bought it. He did a tremendous job in overseeing the transition of Cosworth Racing under Ford's ownership, and in managing a number of important projects such as the latest Formula One engine. We wish him well in the continuation of his retirement."
