Jordan Brands Ron A 'poor Loser'.

Eddie Jordan lashed out at rival Ron Dennis yesterday, after the McLaren boss apparently denigrated Heinz-Harald Frentzen's victory at Monza.

Dennis is reported as having congratulated Jordan on his team's 'first real win', following two previous successes in wet weather races, but the Irishman took offence at the remark.

"Ron is a great competitor, but he's not got it in him to say 'well done'. That's his way and I've no problem with it. I admire the guy and his team is sensational, but it's a pity that Ron is such a bad loser."

McLaren appeared to have the Italian race in the bag, but race leader Mika Hakkinen spun off while under no pressure, and allowed Frentzen to notch up Jordan's second win of the season. The victory moved the German to within ten points - or another win - of the championship lead, making him a potential title challenger. This was something which gave Jordan particular cause to smile.

"McLaren has the speed, but they or their drivers have screwed up on too many occasions. They've had a catalogue of failures, and should have won the championship by fifty points by now. If I had a team as good as that and not won the championship by now, I'd be sick. They are making it difficult for themselves.

"They've opened the door to [Eddie] Irvine, who never had a chance at Monza, and now there's another contender in the frame - Heinz-Harald Frentzen. No-one expected that."
