Arrows Insures Malay Appearance.

The Arrows team has landed a one-race sponsorship deal with a Malaysian insurance company for the country's inaugural grand prix next weekend.


The name of Pan Global Insurance will adorn the flanks of the A20 when the F1 circus reaches Sepang on 17 October and, although the deal is currently only for the one race, it may spark further interest amongst Malaysian companies as grand prix fever hits South-East Asia.

Petronas is currently the only Malaysian organisation involved in Formula One, being a major backer of the Sauber outfit, but it is expected that the sport's arrival in the region may produce a new wave of finance despite recent economic problems.


Arrows, incidentally, is up for sale following the resignation of Prince Malik Ado Ibrahim last month. Although co-owners Tom Walkinshaw and the Morgan Grenfell bank are keen to retain an interest in the team, they have said that their stakes would also be available for purchase at the right price.
