The British teenager goes head-to-head with F3000 race-winner Bruno Junqueira for a chance to race next season's FW22-BMW, but the Brazilian already has a secret weapon in his arsenal in the shape of massive financial backing.

The British teenager goes head-to-head with F3000 race-winner Bruno Junqueira for a chance to race next season's FW22-BMW, but the Brazilian already has a secret weapon in his arsenal in the shape of massive financial backing.


According to the British Sun newspaper, Junqueira has access to a ?4million budget from oil giant Petrobras should he be selected to partner Ralf Schumacher next season, which is likely to ease his path into F1 if he and Button prove evenly matched on the track.


The Brazilian also has the advantage of having tested the Williams last month, and will not need too much time to re-aquaint himself with the Jerez circuit when both drivers try out next week. Both drivers have the chance to replace the disappointing Alex Zanardi as Schumacher's team-mate in 2000.
