Herbert Hat Shows Its Claws.

Johnny Herbert's revised crash helmet design finally saw the light of day this week, after the English driver decided to show his support for the Jaguar team.


Unveiled at a team PR event at Calder Park Raceway on Wednesday, the new paintjob is remarkably similar to the old, in featuring Herbert's now familiar combination of orange, black and white stripes embellished with the Union Jack. On the back, however, a roaring Jaguar now appears to burst from within.

Like new team-mate Eddie Irvine, Herbert decided to incorporate the Jaguar logo to mark the team's Formula One debut, but did so in far more subtle style than the Irishman, who chose to revamp his entire design and emblazon a roaring cat on both sides of the helmet as well as the top.
