The Jordan team has taken another, innovative, step towards giving racing enthusiasts a further insight into the workings of Formula One with the launch of a specialist CD-ROM.

Produced and marketed by Brighton-based company WAW, the CD is believed to be the first comprehensive F1 team multi-media information system available in British high-street stores, and follows hard on the heels of Jordan's new web-site. The disc contains over two hours of video footage, together with text and audio information on the Jordan team and F1 in general. Contents include a virtual tour of the team's Silverstone factory, interviews with its drivers and other key personnel, and background information to the category in which it competes. A hot link to the internet also allows enthusiasts to keep up-to-date with the sport by enabling them to download the latest information and statistics.

''This is yet another exciting initiative from the team,'' said an enthusiastic Eddie Jordan at the CD's Nurburgring launch yesterday [Thursday], ''Following on from the unveiling of our new web-site at the British GP, this CD-ROM demonstrates Jordan's commitment to using the latest technology to give fans an insight into our team.

''With a host of information available without having to go on-line, allied to the facility to download updates from the internet, fans now have the best of both worlds - unrivalled archive material plus up to the minute information on Jordan and the F1 world championship. It's a great product, which I think racing enthusiasts will really enjoy.''

The CD-ROM costs ?25 from either the Jordan web-site or major computer stores in the UK.
