Verstappen hurt in testing crash.

Canadian Grand Prix hero Jos Verstappen came down to earth with a bump yesterday [Wednesday] as he ended his first day of testing prematurely.

The Dutchman began the first day of three at Magny-Cours in confident mood following his storming drive to fifth place in Montreal, but was only part way through Arrows' development programme when a mechanical problem pitched the A21 into the tyre barrier at the Estoril corner.

Verstappen was able to walk away from the incident with nothing more than a stiff neck, but this, and the fact that the team wanted to discover the nature of the problem which caused the accident, precluded any further running on the day.

Arrows intended to return the damaged car to its Leafield factory overnight to determine the cause and, subject to the investigation, will send a replacement to Magny-Cours so that the team can continue its test programme. Pedro de la Rosa will substitute while Verstappen nurses his injury.
