Deep Purple rock the Australian GP.

Deep Purple, the world's premier rock/metal band, have confirmed that they will perform at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. The legendary group, led by Ian Gillan, will perform a four-song showcase on Saturday 3 March.

The performance - on the Albert Park Golf Course Stage - will commence at 2.45pm, immediately following the Hot Wheels V8 Supercar Showdown race.

Deep Purple will also be at the Grand Prix on Sunday to view the Australian Formula One Grand Prix, before commencing their National Tour in Perth on Monday 5 March.

The five members of Deep Purple are huge fans of Formula One and, immediately following their Australian tour, will be performing at the Malaysian Grand Prix in Kuala Lumpur in mid-March.

Deep Purple are recognised worldwide as THE live rock band. They continue to sell millions of albums each year with rock anthems including Smoke On The Water, Black Night, Highway Star, Woman from Tokyo and Hush.

Deep Purple consists of original members Ian Gillan (vocals), John Lord (keyboards), Roger Glover (Bass), Ian Paice (drums) and the ferocious Steve Morse (guitar) who joined the band in 1994 injecting new energy into their mighty sound. After three decades of international success, Deep Purple are in exceptional form and will perform a blistering set of hi-turbo rock for the Grand Prix fans.
